This is happening for us also. Similar to this issue #169602 |

Same issue here! |

Same. No new issues can be added to any of our projects. When trying to manually add from the table view, only PRs are showing up. |

Same here, no workaround found yet |

same problem here |
|
Same problem still, it is extremely annoying trying to manage a project like this. I should just switch back to Trello, all the issues with projects is just ridiculous. |
|
Same here. Saw this issues all day on 4/27/26 |
|
It's probably because the GitHub maintenance is done with Opus 4.7 :) |

Our project was reindexed 2 weeks ago but we are still experiencing new instances of this problem. Is there a known issue? |
|
Had the same issue. (Issue created from within the project and associated with a repo). The issue didn't show up in any of the views, with multiple combinations of slicing & swim lanes tried out. However, it did appear in the project after the project association was removed from the issue (within the repository) and re-added to the project through the add item option (Add item from repository) |
|
The issue remains. |
|
Still experiencing this. |

I had the same problem 4 hours ago, and I'm having it again right now |

Experiencing this, issue is in repo but doesn't show on project board even though that is where issue was created. Cannot add from repository from board as it doesn't show in list there. |

Hi GitHub team - please investigate or reindex a user-owned Projects v2 project affected by the current stale-Projects incident (8zc63m64hy36). Project: https://github.com/users/monancho/projects/2 (node As of 2026-09-23 16:48 UTC, the Issue-to-Project GraphQL connection and direct REST item GET both return active item Issue #7 had the same mismatch and became visible later without deletion, suggesting delayed recovery. Idempotent add attempts returned the original item or Recent GitHub request IDs at 16:48:16 UTC: direct #56 item GET Could GitHub reindex this Project or confirm the incident's backfill will include item #56? Please advise a supported recovery path. We are avoiding delete/re-add because other reports in this thread show it can lose item history without fixing the index. |

This is a server-side index bug — here's what actually works:
Fix: Submit a support ticket at https://support.github.com/contact/bug-report with your org and project name. GitHub is manually reindexing affected projects on request — confirmed working in thread #193463.
Why nothing you've tried works: The issue data is fine on GitHub's backend (that's why the automation log says "moved to Backlog"), but the project view index is out of sync. Clearing cache, removing/re-adding the project link, and switching views all do nothing because it's a server-side problem.
Why close/reopen made it worse: Each write event compounds the index drift.
Verify your data is intact while waiting:
