Hi everyone,

Does anyone know why I got an email where they said they would not accept my student application until I fix this and that, but the application says pending in my settings. When I follow the link to reapply it still says pending when I already got rejected in my email.

Those two statuses are usually out of sync, and the email is the one to trust. If it says the application won’t be accepted until you fix something, it was rejected, and the “pending” in your settings is most likely stale. Rejections usually don’t show up right away on the settings and benefits pages and sometimes the old request keeps showing as pending after the decision.

First, do what the email asks, since it names the reason. The usual ones are:

-Your profile name doesn’t match the name on your proof.
-The proof isn’t dated for the current term.
-The proof doesn’t clearly show your school and enrollment.
-Location is blocked in the browser during the application.
-Billing info is missing or doesn’t carry your real name.
-2FA is off.
(Make those changes before reapplying)

Try the reapply link in a private window or different browser, signed into the same account. This very symptom is a frequent cause of a cached page. If it still says pending after that, the stuck request is on GitHub’s side and you can’t clear it yourself. Contact support via the support contact form. Please include your username, the date of the rejection email and a screenshot of the pending status next to the email. Have them reset the application for you to resubmit. A discussion thread won’t get this fixed, since community members can’t see or change your application.
